`Id Mubarak

`Id al-Fitr Greetings

O `Id,

    What gladness you bring
for those who Allah's praises sing.
Through the month of Purity and Fast,
the month of Prayer and Zakat.

    Who would recite the Qur'an,
    Allah's Word, al-Huda and al-Furqan,
And the doa, luminous and fine,
of an Imam, immersed in prayer divine.

O `Id,

    You embody the acceptance
    of Allah's devotee's penance.
Over a month of blessings rich,
And a Night of Qadr therein.

    In Fatima's Laylatul Qadr,
more blessed than a thousand months,
    Speaking to Allah, Most High,
with words of His chosen Dai.

O Ramadan,

Each evening to end fast with those of faith
    O Esteemed Month, you gathered.
    Kinship, love, harmony and peace,
through worship and Iman, you inspired.

    Lament to see you depart
O Month of Allah, O Ramadan,
    preserve us to welcome you
    on your return, next Shaban.

O `Id,

    Behold the radiant crescent
that ushers you, Pure and Sacred,
Only to be seen with the heart
on the countenance of the Master, Blessed.

Who imparted Knowledge of the Month,
    practised the Message it brought.
Who bestowed, a mother ever concerned,
a father always near when sought.

O `Id,

    Invoke salawat, the choicest,
on the Messenger and his Progeny Pure,
    and on his Dai Shafiy,
    our doa through whom secure.

Sorry for the old poem - too lazy to write a new one this year.
